The F1102EBPLR-V3.1 is a single-path, dual-optical-port 100G Ethernet bypass server adapter built on the Intel 100G Ethernet Controller E810-CAM2. It is designed for inline network systems — firewalls, intrusion prevention, traffic auditing and similar appliances that sit physically in the path of a production link. In such systems the adapter carries a responsibility a normal NIC never faces: if the host software hangs, the operating system crashes or the power drops, traffic must keep flowing. The F1102EBPLR answers that requirement in hardware.
Three working modes — Normal, Bypass and Disconnect — are software-programmable, so the appliance can decide how the link behaves in every state. An on-board watchdog timer (WDT) controller supervises the host: its timeout is programmable from 100 ms to 3,276.8 s, and when it expires without service, the card switches the link to bypass automatically. The result is a fail-safe optical path that keeps the network connected while the appliance recovers, reboots or is serviced.
Built for virtualised inline platforms
Modern security appliances are rarely single-purpose boxes; they run as virtualised platforms hosting several inspection functions. The F1102EBPLR supports flexible I/O virtualisation with up to 256 virtual channels, letting one physical adapter serve many virtual functions without surrendering line rate. Jumbo frames are supported for large-transfer workloads, and the card ships with two 100G single-mode 10 km optical modules, so the bypass pair arrives ready to splice into a long-reach link.

Where it fits
Specify the F1102EBPLR where an inline appliance guards a link whose downtime costs more than the appliance itself: data-centre perimeter enforcement, carrier and campus backbone inspection, and industrial control networks with supervised failover. For 100G uplinks that do not need bypass behaviour, the standard E810 adapter or the G810-2Q domestic-controller model will usually be the better-value choice — our engineers will say so if you describe the deployment.
Pricing and lead time for this model are quoted per project, because deployments typically pair the card with specific optics and bracket options. Use the inquiry form and include your appliance platform, link distance and quantity; a free loaner unit can be arranged for platform evaluation under our testing service.
What happens to traffic when the host loses power?
The bypass function switches the optical path so the link stays connected. The card is built so that host failure, software failure or power loss does not interrupt the network connection.
Can the bypass behaviour be controlled from software?
Yes. Normal, Bypass and Disconnect modes are software-programmable, and the watchdog timeout is programmable across a wide range, so your appliance software defines the failover policy.
Which bracket does it use?
The card is 195 mm long with a full-height (120 mm) bracket as documented. Tell us your chassis constraints when inquiring so we can confirm fit.
